The Manila Club
Columbus Day Weekend Reunion "Tatlo"

October 8-10, 2004
Stratosphere Hotel & Casino

The Manila Club's third "Columbus Day weekend reunion" returned to Las Vegas in a very "big" way....to the Stratosphere Hotel, which features the highest structure west of the Mississippi river.  Thanks to our "connections" (Merril Yu '75), almost 40 alums enjoyed $50 rooms on a "sold out" weekend when the going rate was $150.  (Unfortunately, Merril was unable to attend; he accepted a job to manage one of China's newest and largest hotels and was already in China at the time of the reunion.)  We also enjoyed the hotel's second largest VIP suite as Malacanang Palace.

Many of the alums who attended were "reunion junkies" and veterans of at least one of the many regular Manila Club-organized reunions, which date back to a 1997 Vegas reunion born from the 1996 AISAAM reunion.  The Class of 74, celebrating its big 30th (naku!) anniversary, accounted for about a third of the group.  The Class of '79, celebrating its 25th anniversary, tied the Class of '75 for second largest turnout.  Eight courageous "asawas" also attended.  Diana Bomar's (72) daughters Risa and Justine not only attended the reunion, but surprised their mom by arranging with Andy Butler to pay for the entire trip as her birthday present.  Alums attending were:
Tabisaura, Fred  '68 Forbes, Rob '73 Marcelino, Debbie '74 Harvey, Tom '77
Fellerman, Steve '70 Picini, Tony '73 Phillips, Jeff '74 Buenaventura, Rick '78
Husel, Bob  '70 Baker, Kurt '74 Venzon, Vivian '74 Daugard, Pam '79
Slonsky, George  '70 Cafage, Adam '74 Daugard, Chris '75 Lipman, Mike '79
Bomar, Diana '72 Carville, Barney '74 Madsen, Kirk '75 Palmer, Michelle '79
Butler, Andy  '72 Dempsey, Debbie '74 Mirani, Jagdish '75 Scholey, Cathy '79
Larson, Pat  '72 French, Phil '74 Mitchell, Dennis '75 Staley, Melissa '79
Marcelino, Esther  '72 Gamber, John '74 Venzon, Rick '75
Adan, Luis '73 Gleeck, Fred '74 Swiryn, Scott '76
Buendia, Marie '73 Larson, Tom '74 Gamber, Jim '77

Thursday's "early birds" shared dinner at Crazy Armadillo, a Tex-Mex restaurant in the hotel and then retired to Malacanang Palace, the hotel's second largest VIP suite and located on the top (24th) floor of the Premier Tower. (Alums are "premier", 'diba?)
